21St Birthday Drink

My 21st birthday is in less than 2 months, what should I drink on my 21st birthday?

I'm probably going to be alone on it. Just like every other year. But I still want to celebrate it by going to the liquor store and buying something. Any suggestions?

For the love of it all, do not get Yagermeister. Unless you like old-people-licorice flavor. GROSS!! Alize is ok....I can't stand beer so I can't recommend any of that. Hard liquor tastes terrible as I'm sure you know/have heard.

This question has a lot of variables. It depends on what you like, what you like to drink, and who you are going with.

For starters, here is a raw idea on what you can expect to spend. A lot of bars in the city that cater to younger adults you'll find yourself paying a cover charge, usually somewhere between $5-$10. If you don't drink beer you will have a hard time to find anything inexpensive. Mixed drinks usually start at or around $5. Beers can be anywhere from $1-$5 depending on if there is a deal or what type of beer you are getting, Beers like guiness are often more expensive. Drinks like Mike's Hard or Smirnoff are usually around $4-$5. And shots are somewhere between $4-$10

If you are interested in a bar where you can dance, I would recommend 3 bars. Finnegan's Wake, McFaddens, or Brownie's 23 East (Ardmore). They have great cover bands and great dj's playing. There are multiple bars on the inside, and there are places to just hang out and talk if you'd like. These bars do get crowded though but they're alot of fun. At these bars you can occasionally find some deals too, like dollar bottles. I know on Wednesdays, Brownie's has a $5 cover charge and once inside it's $.50 drafts, $1 dollar mixed drinks. These three are my personal favorites because of the price and what I enjoy doing when at a bar.

Most of the bars in old city or center city you will find to be more expensive with no deals. Bars in center city you will find have some more strict requirements to get in, such as nicely dressed, no hats, etc. These bars are usually good for just standing/sitting around and talking with friends while enjoying a few drinks. But they are more expensive and not the type of place you get sloppy drunk. 2nd street between Market and Chestnut have some good bars, such as Plough and the Stars ... also there is a bar on chestnut right off 2nd st called Eulogy where they only serve imports, it is expensive but they have some incredible drinks there.

Manayunk has quite a few good bars if you don't feel like staying at one place. You can walk along main st. and hit many different bars. I usually go to Grape st(no longer there), manayunk brewery(has a nice outside area), pitcher pub(a little bit of a dive), and kildare(irish bar). But you can sometimes end up paying more doing that depending on which bars are charging a cover.
